Goodbye books… I will miss you!

In less than three weeks I move to Scotland. And what am I thinking about right now? Not the cold. Not the fact that bacon over there sucks. Not to mention the chocolate. Not the fact that I could go broke and come running home in six months.

No. I’m thinking about all the books I have to leave behind!!

All these amazing unread books. Why, oh, why did I decide to move overseas and leave all my beloved books behind? Well, let’s be honest… THIS is why:

Needless to say I’m trying to read as much as I can before I leave. I’m not having much luck, considering how busy and tired I am right now… but I’m doing what I can.

So what am I reading?

Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton
This book is… utterly divine. If you haven’t read it, I implore you… go, go, go! It’s fiction but strongly based on Trent’s upbringing. It’s incredible the different lives we all lead, isn’t it?

The Ninth Sorceress by Bonnie Wynne
Now. Let me tell you that, while I’ve only just started this book, I can tell how special it is already. Bonnie has a beautiful writing style and tells a damn captivating story. The Ninth Sorceress isn’t out until Feb 2020 (I have a proof, lucky me!) with indie publishing house Talem Press. Yep, that’s right! Bonnie and I share more than a name starting with the letter B. She and I are among the first authors to be signed with Talem Press. Follow her on social and get ready!

Heir to Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier
I’m in love with this series… once I started, I couldn’t stop. I’m churning through these books and wishing they could never end. Each one is a captivating campfire story.

I’d love to know what you guys are reading, don’t be afraid to reach out on social to let me know! I’m always on the look out for great new books. Next year is going to be all about second hand book shops and ebooks, I think!

Working in the book industry means I’m exposed to a wide range of books and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve read books that I might never have even glanced at and I’m a richer person for it. So I thought I’d just list a few books that I’ve read over the last little while that have stuck with me – all varied reads – that I highly recommend checking out, even if it’s not normally your thing.

Backyard to Backpack by Evie Farrell
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
Dead Man Switch by Tara Moss

Dev1at3 by Jay Kristoff
The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier
Malamander by Thomas Taylor

I hope you try a few of these books out because, trust me, they’re all worth it! That’s all for now, but I’ll try and check in when I’ve moved to Scotland. Don’t forget you can follow me by subscribing to my website or on social – would love to see you there!
