A Writer’s Life: I Still Love It!

Ahoy readers!

I’m in a fantastic mood right now. Why? Because I just finished reading through Relic once again and I find that, despite all the things I’ve heard over the years about authors becoming sick of their own novels, I still love it!

I was sent my very first physical copy of Relic and words cannot convey how amazing that feeling is. Best. Delivery. Ever. Look how pretty she is!

After taking many, many photos and trying desperately to keep it pristine, I got to work! The final proof read is a scary thing… I didn’t want to miss anything and have it go out in the world with a spelling error (or, gods forbid, a story error!) so I took my time and read it aloud. You’d be surprised how weird things sound when you read them aloud.

But as of… one hour ago… I finished the proof read! There were a few errors and I sent off my notes to my publisher. Huzzah!

Now that that’s done, I am going to go back to focusing on book two in The Relic Trilogy. Draft one of book two was due about a week ago and it is amazing to have finished it. Scary, though. No… scary isn’t a strong enough word. Terrifying! Somehow submitting the second book is more terrifying than the first book… because now I’ve set a standard and I hope I can maintain it???

*screams internally*

In the meantime, while I wait for my publisher and editor to read it, I am working on the other bits and pieces. The blurb, the map, the crest – fun (yet sometimes tedious) work! Drawing is not my strong suit and maps are definitely not my strong suit. But I’ll give it my best go!

That’s all for now. Just wanted to check in and let you know that things are flying by and before we know it, Relic will be out in the world. If you haven’t already added it to your Goodreads TBR list, you can do so here.
